Development of Community Legal Clinic

The Community Legal Clinic initially started in 1981 as Simcoe Legal Services Clinic, located in Orillia, with a staff of two lawyers and one secretary. By 2001, the clinic was providing service in Orillia with satellite offices in Alliston, Barrie, Bradford, Collingwood, Christian Island, and Midland, and had a staff of four lawyers, two community legal workers and two support staff.

In the fall of 2001, as part of the province wide expansion by Legal Aid Ontario, the name of the clinic was changed to Community Legal Clinic - Simcoe, Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes and services were expanded into Haliburton County and Kawartha Lakes (formerly Victoria County). The clinic currently has a staff complement of four lawyers, five community legal workers, and three support staff.
